About Badminton

How to play

Badminton is a fast-paced game played with rackets and a shuttlecock over a high net. Players score points by hitting the shuttlecock so it lands in the opponent's court before they can return it. The game requires quick reflexes, precise shots, and good footwork. It can be played in singles or doubles, with matches typically played to 21 points.

Essential Equipment

1. Badminton Racket

  • Lightweight (70–100g), usually made from graphite or carbon fiber.

  • Choose based on playing style: control, speed, or power.

  • Comes in different balance types: head-heavy, head-light, or even-balanced.

2. Shuttlecocks (Birdies)

  • Feathered: Used in professional play (usually goose feathers).

  • Plastic/nylon: More durable; ideal for beginners and recreational use.

3. Badminton Shoes

  • Non-marking soles for indoor courts.

  • Provide good grip, lateral support, and shock absorption.

  • Avoid running or general sports shoes—they increase injury risk.

4. Clothing

  • Lightweight, breathable athletic wear (typically polyester).

  • Men: T-shirt/polo and shorts.

  • Women: T-shirt/polo and skirt or shorts.

  • Moisture-wicking material helps during intense play.
